Dr. Ritu Sharma has served in higher education since 2004. She has taught at numerous schools internationally before settling in Ohio, where she has earned numerous awards for teaching excellence and served as an assessment advisor with the Ohio Board of Regents. In addition to being named valedictorian of her master’s class, Dr. Sharma was nominated for the Top Ten Best Online Professors in the USA by Best Online Colleges in 2012. In 2019, she was awarded the Faculty Advisor of the Year, Distinguished Service Award, and the Diversity Award from Lakeland Community College, as well as being named one of the 2019 Top Educators in Ohio by Ohio Magazine.
Dr. Sharma joined SDI in 2021 and specializes in English. When asked why she chose SDI, she shared, “I have a strong desire to serve the ones who fended for our exceptional nation. Also, this institute allows me to enrich my skills and contribute to overall growth. There is a strong emphasis on teaching quality with a focus on students and that encourages me.” She sees teaching as a challenging but meaningful and rewarding journey that enhances knowledge and promotes a superior quality of life.
When not in the classroom, Dr. Sharma enjoys spending time with her two grown daughters and their families. She loves to travel and has visited 56 countries so far. Dr. Sharma also presents at and chairs numerous educational conferences around the US and internationally. Her articles and poetry have been published in magazines of international repute, and she is currently working on a book. When given the time, she loves to learn about interdisciplinary subjects and ways to enhance efficiency. She considers a perfect day to be a purposeful day where she exceeds her objectives and goals.
