What the School of Unmanned Technology Means to SDI President Traci Lee

Sonoran Desert Institute announced this week the launch of a new school: Sonoran Desert Institute’s School of Unmanned Technology.

In recent memory, SDI, an online, DEAC accredited school that helps students learn the skills and techniques necessary to succeed in the fields relevant to their courses of study had focused exclusively on the world of firearms technology. That is no longer the case. While the School of Firearms Technology will remain unchanged and a beloved staple of SDI, the school is branching out.

Like all of the team at SDI, SDI’s President Traci Lee is ecstatic about the opportunity to serve students in a new way with the unveiling of the School of Unmanned Technology.

“One of the things I love about SDI is our focus on unique, niche program offerings,” she said.

“It was important to me that we were selective in our consideration of additional program options and I am thrilled to add drone-related training to our mix through the school of unmanned technology! This enables us to continue to focus on specific markets that we serve while expanding our offerings to include this rapidly growing field of study!

“I have worked at schools that defined their success on how many programs they offered, to serve a variety of interests. At SDI, we will stay true to the disciplines which allow us to focus on specialized areas that have limited online distance education opportunities for students. We often hear from our students and graduates that they want us to offer additional programs so I am pleased to be launching this initial Certificate in Unmanned Technology – Aerial Systems as we kick off 2022!”
