Bonita Steele has over fifteen years of experience in higher education administration, having previously worked as a program manager, Director of Education, and then Regional Director of Education for Southwest Florida College. She has also taught for South University, Post University, and Everglades University. She holds her Ed.D in Educational Technology from William Howard Taft University, as well as a Masters in Criminal Justice and a BS in Interdisciplinary Studies, both from Hodges University.

After moving from Florida to her current home in Northeast Alabama, Bonita landed at SDI looking for a new challenge. In her role as a Faculty Lead, she is responsible for the training and mentoring of new faculty members, many of whom are new to teaching in an online environment. When asked what she likes most about teaching, her reply was simple: “Seeing others succeed.” She also really enjoys the administrative processes that help support the school’s mission.

When she’s not working, Bonita loves spending time with her three granddaughters, reading, traveling, and being with friends. Her idea of a perfect day is “any time I get to spend with my husband and dog hanging out on our little farm,” and given the time, she would love to learn how to play the double bass.
