Module 1 – Introduction to Home Inspection
This module is an introduction to the home inspection business. You will learn about building materials, types of buildings, and how to read construction plans and drawings. You will also learn how to inspect building foundations.

Module 2 – Framing, Roofing, and Interior and Exterior Finishes
In this module, you will learn how the walls, floor, ceiling, and roof of a house are constructed and how to inspect their condition. You will learn how to inspect chimneys and flues. You will also learn what to look for and how to report termites and decay.

Module 3 – Mechanical Systems
In this module, you will learn how to inspect the electrical, plumbing, heating, and air conditioning systems of a house. You will learn how to spot lead pipes, asbestos insulation, and faulty wiring. When you've completed the module, you will be able to tell the age of the furnace and air conditioner.

Module 4 – Appliances, Zoning, and Appraisal
In this module, you will learn how to inspect appliances. You will learn how to determine the age of an appliance from the serial number. You will also learn about zoning laws that might affect the property and how to communicate your findings to your client.

Module 5 – The Home Inspection
This module covers the business aspects of home inspection. You will learn how and where to advertise, and other ways to make your business grow. You will learn about bookkeeping and how to use a computer as your business management tool.

Module 6 – Introduction to Windows
In this module, depending upon your operating system, you will learn the basics of either Windows 98 or XP operating systems. We use Windows XP, currently, due to the majority of computers in the workplace still utilizing this program. We also have an option for our students who have older PC’s and use Windows 98. It’s your choice. You will study the Windows 98 or XP interface, programs, and accessories. You will learn how to personalize your system and look at how Windows 98 or XP local and network file systems function.

Module 7 – Using the Windows Operating System
In this module, you will advance your knowledge of the Windows XP or Windows 98 operating systems by examining its Web browser and communications capabilities – such as the Internet Explorer and Active Desktop. You will also look at managing and configuring your Windows XP or Windows 98 system.

Module 8 – Using Your Home Inspection Software
This module contains your home inspection software. When you have it loaded on your computer, you will practice generating home inspection reports with your computer. You will learn how to customize these reports to suit your needs.
