Successful completion of the degree program results in the award of the Sonoran Desert Institute associate degree, identifying you as a highly-qualified and trained professional in shooting sports management, Gunsmithing, or general firearms fields. You’ll be trained by today’s best, most complete curriculum in Firearms.
The program contains courses that cover a variety of interesting and engaging aspects of firearms, such as: Introduction to Firearms; Accuracy and Functionality; Troubleshooting Firearms; Cleaning Firearms Lab; Basic Hand Tools Lab; Stock Fitting & Metal Work Lab; Firearms Technology; Advanced Ballistics; Customizing & Woodworking; as well as general education classes designed to help you apply your skills to everyday situations in the field. There is also the opportunity to work on a Senior Project of your choosing.
More importantly, in addition to the course materials, training manuals, and other learning aids, your degree program courses include a number of entry level tools, such as: a fully-stocked gun cleaning kit, screwdriver set, brass Gunsmithing hammer, drift punches, rifle stock blank, pull and drop gauge, checkering tools and template, trigger pull gauge, needle files and honing stone, sling swivel installation jig, electric Moto-Tool®, wholesale Gunsmithing catalogs, and most importantly the educator-acclaimed Sonoran Desert Institute Achievement Curriculum containing all the information you need to get your training off to a smooth, fast start.
Enrollment is ongoing, with weekly starting classes, over sixteen (16) week semesters. We give enrollment preference to SDI graduates wishing to articulate from our diploma program in the degree program. But, all enrollments are on a first come first served basis, upon meeting admissions criteria.
